Starting Over

Have you ever wished you could start over? Do you sometimes feel like you’ve gotten your life in such a mess there is no way out?

God’s Word has good news for you. There is a way your life can be different. You can have a new start. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us: “If any [person] be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

You can become a member of the family of God. You can be born again. It’s not as difficult as you might think. If you are sincere and want to see a change in your life, it’s as easy as A-B-C:

Acknowledge you are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Believe Jesus is God’s Son and can forgive your sins. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).

Confess your sins to Jesus and ask forgiveness. “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9, 13).

Receive the Lord Jesus into your heart. “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20, NIV).

In your own words, pray a prayer like this:

“Lord Jesus, I know I have sinned and that You died so I could be forgiven. Forgive me and come into my heart. I receive You as my Savior.”

If you responded to this invitation, tell someone. Also, get involved in a local church where you can grow in Christ and be trained in discipleship.
