Do you believe that one can "lose" their salvation or do you believe "once saved, always saved"?

The IPHC believes does not believe in the popular expression, "Once saved, always saved." But neither do we believe that a Christian has to live fearful that God will not keep them secure. I hope this selection from a recent book will help you understand the IPHC position.

"Keep in mind that God does not want any person to be lost. Jesus came to 'seek and save that which was lost' (Luke 19:10). The preponderance of the Bible message is that we can live with great trust and confidence that God is faithful and is able to keep us from falling (Jude 24). You don't have to live your life worrying whether God loves you or not. So, the issue is not really from God's side. God is not going to decide one day that He doesn't love you anymore. God is love and simply cannot do that.

"Although God cannot, and will not, withdraw His love from your life, you can make decisions that frustrate the grace of God in your life. 1 Corinthians 5 describes a Christian man living in sexual immorality. The apostle Paul commanded the church to 'deliver such a one over to Satan (excommunicate the man from active involvement in the church) so that the man would suffer the consequences of his actions in his flesh. But his spirit would then be saved by finally returning to Christ. A person can also become apostate by denying Christ (Read Hebews 6:4-8).

"Thus while salvation is a free gift of grace, it is a costly gift and not to be taken lightly. Our disregard for God's grace is the problem -- not the failure of God's grace."
